Education and Experience-
Education:

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field, or 12-month internship from an accredited training program preferred

High Diploma or equivalent required
Licenses/Certifications:

Must be ASCP certified or equivalent certification.
Experience:

5 years medical technology experience
Job Details:

Receives or collects specimens and performs applicable tests to attain accurate results.

Maintains equipment and keeps records in order to control the quality of test results.

Maintains necessary reagents and test supplies to assure test results are produced in minimal amount of time.

Assists in the review and implementation of new test systems.

Participates in the introduction of new procedures and in the evaluation of new instruments.

Must be able to respond to emergency situations.

Performs specialized assays or procedures.

Ensures that attending physician or appropriate individuals obtain patient lab results.

Evaluates, troubleshoots problems and makes decisions related to specimen preparation and procedures for preparation.

Prepares, labels, and performs quality control inspections on laboratory reagents.

Participates in work-related conferences and education.
-
May participate in and be responsible for decisions involving quality control programs, instrument selection and maintenance and reagent purchases.
