Duties and Responsibilities-
Essential Duties:
-
A Places reminder calls to patients regarding scheduled appointments.
-
Schedules appointments accurately and completes pre-registrations including insurance verification, & identifies POS collection amounts.

Answers the dedicated phone line for Centralized Scheduling.

Returns all voice mail calls within 24 hours.
-
Urgent calls and faxes handled immediately with the direction of Physicians, clinical staff, or department manager.

Makes appointments from incoming calls and provider referrals.
-
Reschedules and cancels appointments.
-
Coordinates multiple appointments.
-
Demonstrates positive customer services when greeting patients, care providers and others.
-
Provides patient/family service instructions prior to appointment as directed by service department.

Secures demographics, guardian and emergency contacts, guarantor and insurance coverage information.
-
Verifies insurance eligibility for services.
-
Updates registration when patient’s information changes.
-
Ensures appropriate order is received from Physician prior to scheduling.
-
Ensures Physician orders are linked to appointments in system.
-
Enters signed, faxed orders to electronic record.
-
Reviews daily work queues to assure accuracy of appointment information and completion of needed appointments.

Corrects errors as identified in work queues or by peers, leadership, or department.

Meets productivity requirements for appointment events, registration errors, orders work queue, and others as identified by department leadership.

Operates switchboard to connect, hold, transfer and disconnect telephone calls

Performs a variety of miscellaneous job responsibilities pertinent to the workflow of the position.

Provides assistance to other departmental personnel as needed. Cross-trains in various functions as needed to assist in the smooth delivery of departmental services.
