Education and Experience-
Education:

Typically requires an associate degree in the clinical laboratory sciences

High Diploma or equivalent required
Licenses/Certifications:

Completion of an MLT certification exam
Experience:
-
Performs specialized assays or procedures.

Ensures that attending physician or appropriate individuals obtain patient lab results.

Evaluates, troubleshoots problems and makes decisions related to specimen preparation and procedures for preparation.

Prepares, labels, and performs quality control inspections on laboratory reagents.
-
Maintains lab work records.

Participates in work-related conferences and education.
-
May participate in and be responsible for decisions involving quality control programs, instrument selection and maintenance and reagent purchases.

Participates in the introduction of new procedures and in the evaluation of new instruments
