Education and Experience-
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited Nursing Program or in progress; Associate Degree with an advanced degree in a related healthcare field is accepted (i.e. Business Administration, Health Care Administration.).
Experience:
• Minimum of three (3) years full-time post-licensure clinical nursing experience in an acute setting
• Prior experience at the unit based charge nurse level is preferred.
• Broad knowledge of hospital operations and emergency procedures.
• Board certification in a hospital based clinical nursing specialty or in nursing administration preferred.
• Experience working with a nursing union desired.
• Knowledge of age specific patient care requirements and expert knowledge of the Nursing process.
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational and problem solving skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and interdepartmental relationships that promote collaboration, trust, positive conflict resolution and staff development.
• Computer proficiency for the EMR and Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel and Power Point.
License/ Certification:
• Current unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Oregon required at date of hire.
• Current BLS HCP (Basic Life Support Health Care Provider) required at date of hire.
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required at time of hire.
• Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required within six (6) months of appointment.
• Current TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum) required within six (6) months of appointment.
Duties and Responsibilities-
Essential Duties:
• Observe patients. Monitor vital signs using computerized equipment and physical assessments.
• Record patients' medical information, vital signs, and progress.
• Discuss cases with doctors and other medical staff.
• Advise and consult with staff about ways to prevent infection.
• Manage care plans for patients.
• Give patients treatments and medications.
• Maintain stock of supplies.
• Coordinate care with ancillary staff such as Lab, Physical Therapy, Medical Imaging, Respiratory Therapy, etc.
• Prepare patients and assist with exams.
• Provide patient education about their health condition, treatment and after care.
• Collaborate with discharge planning as necessary.
• Arrange for in home health care, equipment for example hospital bed, walkers, oxygen; coordinate with the medical equipment agencies and businesses.
• Completes all required online and in-person yearly education.
• Completes required education outlined by the Oregon Board of Education.
• Participates in thorough and timely documentation and reporting prior to end of shift.
• Other duties as assigned.
