Job Description

Purpose/Description-

Responsible for multiple phases of billing process and to ensure acceptable cash flow and appropriate days in receivable by timely follow-up and resolution of balances owed by insurance companies and patients.

Requirements

Education and Experience-

Education:

  • High School diploma, or equivalent.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of (1) one-year experience in a medical setting, data entry of hospital and clinical financial system preferred. Formal training of college coursework in lieu of experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge of insurance processes, collection procedures and regulations preferred.
  • Knowledge of computers
  • Knowledge of business office procedures.
  • Must be proficient in 10 - key by touch and keyboarding skills.

 

Duties and Responsibilities-

Essential Duties:

  • Prepares and submits claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper.
  • Responsible for daily account follow up.
  • Answers questions from patients, clerical staff and insurance companies.
  • Research and resolve credit balances, missing payments, and unposted cash as appropriate.
  • Responds and maintains correspondence.
  • Responds to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Communicates appropriately with insurance companies, patients, co-workers and supervisors
  • Resolve insurance claim rejections/denials and remedy expediently.
  • Meets minimum productive standards and assists with departmental coverage as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
