Job Description

Purpose/Description-

  • Interacts with patients, families, and visitors appropriately and professionally. Collects patient demographic and insurance information accurately and enters information into the computer. Accurately completes all registration forms, and distributes information to ancillary departments.

Requirements

Education and Experience-

Education:

  • High School diploma, or equivalent.

 

Experience:

  • (1) Year of experience where the primary function of the position was patient admissions or patient registration in a hospital or healthcare facility.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities-

Essential Duties:

  • Interacts with and greets patients, families, and visitors in an appropriate and professional manner.
  • Registers all patient types, and collects demographics and insurance information to ensure accurate patient record, and correct billing information.
  • Distributes forms and consents to appropriate departments
  • Obtains and interprets insurance benefits and prior authorization.
  • Applies benefit information to determine patient copays/patient responsibility.
  • Answers the telephone in courteous and professional manner
  • Processes daily bank deposits, maintains cash drawer, accepts patient payments and writes up receipts.
  • Understands use and disclosure of protected health information, or PHI.
  • Other duties as assigned
